I love drawing the layers and layers of this hillside farm. All the terraces and levels step down the hillside with the water tower at the top and the redwood forest down below. The chicken yard above the campfire ring; the raised beds on terraces that snake around the hillside; and tucked into it all the toolshed and cottages and greenhouse.

Owl with mouse
I love owls! Especially barn owls. I painted the background first, in acrylics. Than I painted the owl on top with black and white acrylics, and pen.

Love Apple Farm
I lived at Love Apple Farm in Santa Cruz for 3 years. Much of my art is inspired by this wonderful place.

Baby Barn Owl
This quick little sketch in my art journal is a baby barn owl. I made it to test out the Stabilo Woody pencil (crayon-like). I love owls! I'm not sure about the woody, but I couldn't live without my black Stabilo All pencil!
Short hair girl
I made this girl for an altered book swap. It's on recycled paper (order form for Edward R Hamilton book seller) and I used a black Stabilo all pencil, gesso, a small amount of thio violet acrylic paint, and a brown Stabilo all pencil for the hair.
My son said, "that's a girl?" Yes son, girls can have short hair.
